Meet The Team
Kevin Afkami, DDS
After Dr. Afkami graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry, he knew he wanted to own his own practice because he enjoyed creating beautiful smiles and giving his patients an extra lift in their step. He is an advocate of preventative measures in dentistry and has a genuine desire to help his patients. He believes in taking the time to get to know his patients so he can better address their needs and meet their expectations.
Dr. Afkami has been married for 18 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Kiana is 13, and Meesha is 9. They call Colleyville home and are active members of the community. Dr. Afkami believes in giving back to the community through regular donations to the local community dental clinics and other volunteer work.
When not in the office helping his patients, Dr. Afkami is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking, biking and swimming and he is a big fan of the Cowboys and the Mavericks sports teams. Dr. Afkami also enjoys tennis and soccer and loves to travel and keeps abreast of new dental procedures and technologies by reading and attending continuing education seminars.
Dr. Brandon Brugler
Dr. Brandon Brugler graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry after receiving his Bachelors of Science in Molecular Nutrition from Texas A&M University. During dental school, he served as a faculty selected tutor to underclassman and completed a summer dental research session. Dr. Brugler was awarded first place in the state research contest and competed nationally in San Francisco, California as part of the American Dental Association/Dentsply Student Clinician Research Program. After graduation, Dr. Brugler continued with further education in the AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) residency program at Baylor College of Dentistry. Dr. Brugler is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Dallas County Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Brugler is dedicated to providing high quality, comprehensive dental care to each patient. He enjoys getting to know each patient and is committed to making every patient feel comfortable in the dental office.
Dr. Brugler has been married for 5 years and he and his wife Diana have an 18 month old son, Cainen. In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his son, watching movies and playing guitar.
Catherine Whinery, D.D.S.
Dr. Catherine Whinery earned her dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences from Oklahoma State University. During dental school, she was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society and to the Odontological Honor Society. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and the Fort Worth Dental Society.
Dr. Whinery is committed to providing high quality, comprehensive dental care for the whole family, children and adults alike. She strives to be always attentive to patient comfort.
Dr. Whinery and her husband Scott are preparing for the arrival of a baby girl in July. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and her golden retriever, Maddox.
Natalie - Registered Dental Hygienist
Natalie has been practicing hygiene for 25 years and joined Brookshire dental in 2004. She adds a wide scale of knowledge to our office. Her positive attitude and down to earth style create a warm and relaxing environment for each of our patients.
Born in San Antonio, and raised in Irving, Texas, Natalie is married and has three sons, Dylan, Kris and Jon. She also has a beautiful grandbaby. Along with raising her sons and being a grandma, she has two Boston Terriers.
Outside of the office Natalie enjoys riding her motorcycle. She is also a big sports fan, especially of the Mavericks and Texas Rangers.
Pam - Registered Dental Hygienist
Pam brought her gentle touch and happy outlook to our team at Brookshire in 2008. She began her career in dentistry in the U. S. Air Force where she practiced dental hygiene for six years before becoming licensed to practice in Texas in 1988. Her focus is in helping you understand and become proficient at maintaining your dental health.
She considers herself a "naturalized" Texan since she has lived here longer than her native South Carolina. Pam is a single parent of one grown son. She enjoys teaching and performing belly dance, cooking, movies, and playing with her furry four-legged "children".
Sandy - Lead Dental Assistant
As a registered dental assistant, Sandy has found the field of dentistry very challenging as a career. The past nine years have been very rewarding working at Brookshire Dental. She adds her high leadership qualities to our staff. She enjoys what she does and it shows in her work.
Born in Greenley, Colorado, Sandy was transplanted to Fort Worth, Texas at a young age and has remained for most of her life. She has a 6 year old son.
While not at the office Sandy enjoys shopping with her mom and sisters and loves to entertain and cook for her family and friends.
Diana - Dental Assistant
Diana graduated as an RDA in 2006 from Concorde Institute and has been in the dental feild for three years. She loves to work with people,is very caring,listens to our patients concerns and needs. One of her passion is to contribute with the docter to improve our patients smiles. With only being at Brookshire for almost a year she is very happy with our team and is looking foward many years.
Born and raised in Fort Worth,Texas, Diana is married with no children yet but has one dog and four birds. Away from the office she loves to spend as much time as possible with her husband and family. On her time off, she likes to go shopping.
Marti - Dental Assistant
Marti was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. She traveled a lot growing up since her dad was an Air Force Tech Sergeant. Marti now calls Fort Worth home. She enjoys spending time with her two grown daughters and her two granddaughters, and she is excited to welcome her first grandson in August. Marti has 20 years of experience in the dental field and truly loves her job. At the end of her career in dentistry, she hopes to retire in the mountains of Colorado.
Stacy - Dental Assistant
Stacy has been with Brookshire Dental since May 2009 and has been enjoying the dental field as a Registered Dental Assistant for 8 years. Enjoys working with patients and helping to provide patient needs. Nothing is better than seeing our patients smile. I have a 5 year old son name Conner and a wonderful husband Kerry. When Im not working I enjoy time with my family. When Im not with my family I really enjoy going to the casino love them slot machines.
Esmerelda - Office Manager
Esmerelda has been with Brookshire Dental for several years. She has 15 years of dental care experience and enjoys helping our team run smoothly. We couldn't do it without her. She keeps us on target and diligently works with you, our patients, to ensure you are satisfied with every aspect of your experience in our office.
Born in San Angelo, Texas, Esmerelda had the awesome experience of growing up in Europe while her father served in the Army. She is a single parent of four grown children and she enjoys spending many hours volunteering in the homeless shelters handing out food and comfort.
Esmerelda is a passionate member of her church. She loves watching old movies, doing arts and crafts and loves spending time outdoors, especially bike riding. She particularly enjoys antiques and photography.
Stacy - Front Desk
Stacy joined the Brookshire team in 2008. She has been in the dental field for 15 years. She helps our patients with their understanding of and helps schedule their dental treatment. Stacy has lived in the midcities all her life and is a graduate of L.D.Bell high school where her oldest son now attends. She also has twin 11 year old daughters and a 2 year old son. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and kids and shares her "craftiness" with the girls.
Patricia - Front Desk
Patricia has been with Brookshire dental for four years. With her 9 years of dental experience, she helps keep our appointment schedule running smoothly and on time. She tackles the insurance questions and adds a wealth of knowledge to our office.
Raised in Fort Worth, Patricia is married to Mario and has three children named Abigail, Natalia and Mario Jr. When not in the office Patricia enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends.
